Yes, if the fire department has elected General Liability coverage, and it is determined there was negligence and the firefighter was working within the scope of duties coverage is available up to the limits set in the Governmental Tort Claims Act.
Fire vehicles should be valued at replacement cost if they are less than 10 years old. Fire vehicles should be valued at Actual Cash Value (ACV) if they are 10 years or older.
When adding a vehicle to APD, information provided must include proof of ownership and the value of the vehicle and equipment, whether fixed or loose. The vehicle identification number (VIN), Tag Number, Make, Model and Year of the vehicle must also be provided.
